The Harry Bolam Saltair Photographs collection consists of nine photographs taken of the old Saltair resort on the shores of the Great Salt Lake by Harry Bolam. The photographs were taken in approximately 1965, when the resort was abandoned and delapidated, but before it finally burned to the ground in an arson fire in 1970.
Collection contains loose photographs, a photograph album, drawings, and a patent created by Charles Ellis Johnson, F. Day, and others. The items, collected by Lyndon W. Cook, Jr., were created in Salt Lake City, Utah, Nauvoo, Illinois, and Jerusalem between the dates of 1850 and 1936.
This photograph collection of Charles Ellis Johnson is the work of the well-known, premier nineteenth century Utah photographers. It contains photographs in and around the Salt Lake City area, including the Salt Lake City Temple, Mormon Tabernacle, downtown areas, and Brigham Young Monument. Its cultural, historic, and artistic value cannot be over-estimated.
