Biographical/Historical note

Wilson W. Sorensen began his career in vocational education at the Central Utah Vocational School in 1941 as the purchasing agent and treasurer. He assumed the role of president of the school in 1946 and remained president until retiring in 1982. During that time the vocational school changed location several times, had four name changes, and continued to grow in terms of both number of students attending and in types of training and courses offered. By the time Sorensen retired, there was a new Orem Campus in addition to the Provo Campus of the Utah Technical College, and general education classes had been added to complement the vocational courses. Sorensen continued to be active and involved with Utah Valley State College for years after his retirement.
